Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, govern BubbleCow's relationship with authors in relation to our services and website usage. By engaging our services or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Definitions

  • Developmental Editing: A comprehensive review of a manuscript focusing on structure, content, and overall development.
  • Manuscript: The author's submitted work in digital format.
  • Editor: The professional assigned by BubbleCow to perform the developmental edit.
  • Author: The individual or entity submitting a manuscript for editing services.

3. Developmental Editing

3.1 Scope

For the fee provided by the author, we undertake to provide a one-off developmental edit of a submitted manuscript of a word length specified by the author at the time of submission. The fee covers the developmental edit of the manuscript, including the accompanying editor’s report, and all pre- and post-edit interactions related to the developmental edit, whether via email, phone, in person, or video.

3.2 Payment and Assignment

BubbleCow requires correct payment to proceed with the developmental edit. Payment may be split into two parts, with a portion (often half) due on submission and the rest upon completion of the service. BubbleCow will assign the most suitable editor for the developmental edit based on our in-house assessment. The decision regarding the choice of editor is final and non-negotiable.

3.3 Manuscript Submission

No amendments to the manuscript will be accepted once it has been assigned to an editor. Manuscripts must be submitted in a suitable digital format (e.g., Microsoft Word). We do not accept paper submissions or PDF files. We reserve the right to refuse manuscripts if we are unable to provide a suitable editor.

3.4 Refund Policy

We reserve the right to return the author’s manuscript and payment should we fail to find a suitable editor or other extenuating circumstances arise that prevent the developmental edit from taking place. In these exceptional circumstances, a full refund will be issued within seven working days of the author being informed.

3.5 Timeline

We aim to provide the developmental edit within twenty-eight business days of payment but cannot guarantee this timeline. If the deadline is extended, the author will be informed via email at the earliest opportunity.

3.6 Clarification

If the developmental edit is deemed unclear by both the client and BubbleCow, we will seek clarification from the editor and provide further guidance as necessary.

3.7 Revisions

3.7.1 Scope of Revisions

BubbleCow offers unlimited revisions to address specific feedback and adjustments based on our editorial recommendations. This includes clarification, minor adjustments, and refinement of the manuscript but does not cover substantial rewrites, significant structural changes, or the addition of new content.

3.7.2 Revision Requests

All revision requests must be submitted within fourteen days of receiving the edited manuscript. Requests made after this period may be subject to additional charges.

3.7.3 Number of Revision Cycles

Revisions are unlimited; however, each request should encompass comprehensive feedback from the author. Multiple requests that do not incorporate all suggested changes or introduce new instructions significantly differing from the original scope may be limited.

3.7.4 Reasonable Use

The unlimited revisions policy is designed to ensure client satisfaction through iterative improvements. BubbleCow reserves the right to determine what constitutes reasonable use.

3.7.5 Submission of Revised Drafts

Revised drafts should be submitted in a timely manner. Delays in submission may impact the delivery schedule and overall service timeline.

3.7.6 Content Consistency

Revisions are based on the content of the manuscript at the time of the initial editing. Significant additions or changes requiring substantial new editing are not covered under the unlimited revisions policy and may incur additional fees.

3.7.7 Final Approval

The service is considered complete once the author has approved the final version of the manuscript. Further changes after final approval are not covered under the unlimited revisions policy.

4. Manuscripts

4.1 Submission Format

Manuscripts must be submitted in a suitable digital format (e.g., Microsoft Word). We do not accept paper submissions or PDF files.

4.2 Acceptance Criteria

While we are open to a wide range of subject matters, we reserve the right to reject manuscripts that we deem excessively or unacceptably offensive.

4.3 Copyright

The copyright of the author’s work remains with the author at all times. The copyright of all editorial feedback remains with BubbleCow. Authors must seek permission from BubbleCow before quoting from the report, for example, to agents or on personal websites.

4.4 Editorial Services

Microsoft Word is the default choice for all editorial services, but an alternative such as other word processing software or Google Docs may be used. The author will be informed of any such changes.

5. Code of Conduct

5.1 Confidentiality

Your work will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Please review our approach to file safety here.

5.2 Professionalism

We understand that receiving editorial feedback is a sensitive process and strive to work with a diverse range of authors. However, we expect authors to behave professionally. We reserve the right to cease working with any author who behaves offensively towards our staff. In such cases, the author will be informed in writing.

5.3 Complaints

If you wish to lodge a complaint, please email us no earlier than one week after receiving your editorial feedback. We will do our utmost to resolve the issue. Complaints must be submitted within one calendar month of receiving your report to ensure timely resolution. We cannot address complaints raised more than one calendar month after receipt of the feedback.

5.4 Testimonials

By providing a testimonial for BubbleCow, you agree to its use, along with your provided name, for promotional and publicity purposes.

7. Limitation of Liability

BubbleCow's liability to the author for any claim related to the services rendered, whether based on contract, tort, or other grounds, shall be limited to the amount paid by the author for the services. 9. Force Majeure

BubbleCow shall not be liable for any failure to perform its obligations under these Terms and Conditions if such failure is due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, terrorism, government regulations, natural disasters, or any other events of force majeure.

10. Amendments to Terms and Conditions

BubbleCow reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website, and it is the author's responsibility to review these Terms and Conditions periodically.
